Mission Statement for State Auditor

 I, Errol J. Chavez, as State Auditor will steadfastly represent the PEOPLE of New Mexico.  I will utilize the authority granted to the Office of the State Auditor to efficiently search out and eliminate corruption in State Government.  I will go beyond the current limits by implementing proven investigative techniques to identify corrupt Government Officials, and have them justly prosecuted. No corrupt Politician or State Office will be ignored or disregarded. These necessary activities will be performed as an addition to the statutory purposes provided by the New Mexico State Legislature. I promise to bring a more proactive approach to the Office of the State Auditor by establishing a clear policy for employees to identify the loopholes that exist in the Government system. These loopholes can invite Officials and Agencies to become corrupt.   To strengthen the efforts of the Office of the State Auditor, I will work diligently to organize a State Wide Task Force of Law Enforcement Agencies and Prosecutors.  This Task Force will work cohesively to investigate and arrest for prosecution, corrupt Government Officials and any associated conspirators.  The People of New Mexico deserve a State Auditor who actively and ethically pursues the business of protecting tax dollars on every level of State Government.    -  Errol J.
